Real-Life Usage Notes
לשתות is used for drinking any liquid. In Israel, you'll often hear 'אפשר לשתות?' (efshar lishtot? - Can I have something to drink?) at restaurants and cafes. The word 'שתייה' (shtiya - beverage/drinking) comes from the same root.
