Hebrew Levels: Find Where You Fit
Ivrit with Aviv teaches three levels of Hebrew - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each level has a clear curriculum, so you always know exactly what you're learning and what comes next. Not sure where you fit? The free placement test does it in 10 minutes.
The Three Levels
Beginner
A1-A2No prior knowledge of Hebrew needed. You'll start with the Hebrew alphabet, pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and basic sentence structures.
At this level you will:
- Learn the Hebrew alphabet (aleph-bet) and vowel system
- Greet people, introduce yourself, and handle basic social situations
- Build a foundation of 500-700 common Hebrew words
- Understand simple spoken Hebrew at a slow pace
- Form basic sentences using present tense verbs
Who is this for? Complete beginners, heritage speakers who never formally studied, and people preparing for travel to Israel.
Intermediate
B1-B2You know the basics but want to speak more fluently, understand native speakers, and handle real conversations. This is where fluency starts to develop.
At this level you will:
- Hold real conversations on a wide range of everyday topics
- Understand most native Hebrew speech at natural speed
- Use past, present, and future tense accurately
- Read modern Hebrew texts and articles with comprehension
- Expand vocabulary to 2,000+ words
Who is this for? Learners who've studied before but feel stuck, heritage speakers with conversational exposure, and students who completed beginner levels.
Advanced
C1-C2You speak Hebrew well but want to refine your grammar, expand your vocabulary, and communicate with the fluency and confidence of a near-native speaker.
At this level you will:
- Discuss complex topics - culture, politics, philosophy - in Hebrew
- Understand idiomatic expressions, slang, and cultural references
- Write formal and informal Hebrew with accuracy
- Use nuanced grammar structures naturally
- Develop near-native pronunciation and rhythm
Who is this for? Intermediate learners ready for the next challenge, people preparing for professional or academic contexts in Hebrew, and heritage speakers aiming for full fluency.
How the Placement Test Works
The free placement test takes about 10 minutes. It covers vocabulary, basic sentence comprehension, and listening - giving a clear picture of your current level. You don't need to prepare. You don't need to know anything. The test is designed to find where you are, not test what you memorised. After the test, you'll see your level immediately and can start the right lessons right away.
